Worth knowing: sintered stone is scratch-resistant but not impact-resistant — there’s no resin layer backing the surface, unlike quartz. Crack risk depends heavily on installation method: full cement-bond is recommended over dry-fix for wall cladding and large panels.
Also worth knowing: a “polished” sintered stone finish is a heat-fused gloss coating, not a true mechanical polish. It looks and feels glossy from day one, but the coating can fade over years of wear and reveal fine scratches underneath — matte/textured finishes don’t carry this risk.

We’ll Tell You When Not to Buy It
If a sink cutout sits closer than 50mm to an edge, or you want a bullnose profile, we’ll point you to quartz. If the surface is indoors and never sees direct sun, we’ll put the Moca Compact quote next to the Dekton one. If it’s an outdoor kitchen or a facade, Dekton is the honest answer, and we’ll say that too.

Moca Compact — 10 Years
A 10-year manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects, starting from the date of your paid invoice. Covered by Sinno directly, so your order number is all you need.
Dekton — 25 Years
A 25-year Cosentino manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects, registered in your name on the official Cosentino site. Your sales advisor will walk you through the registration.
12-Month Workmanship Warranty
Protects against defects in our installation workmanship for 12 months from the date of your paid invoice. Doesn’t cover normal wear and tear.
What the manufacturer warranty doesn’t cover. Discolouration and colour fading are not covered, and neither is impact damage, chipping or cracking. Sintered stone is scratch-resistant but not impact-resistant, so a dropped pot or a knock on an unsupported edge sits outside the warranty on both brands. Our care guide covers how to avoid it.

No — they’re related but distinct materials, sintered under different processes with different density and performance characteristics. Ask our team if you’re comparing the two for a specific application.
Yes, highly — everyday knife contact and daily kitchen use won’t mark the surface.
No. Sintered stone has no resin backing layer, unlike quartz, so while it resists scratches well, a hard, sharp impact can still chip or crack it. Installation method matters — full cement-bond is recommended over dry-fix for wall cladding and large panels to manage this risk.
It’s a heat-fused gloss coating applied to the surface, not a true mechanical polish like you’d get on natural stone. It looks glossy from day one, but the coating can fade with years of wear and reveal fine scratches underneath. Matte and textured finishes don’t have this specific risk.
Pencil round (2mm eased) or a 3mm chamfer. A true bullnose or ogee profile isn’t achievable on sintered stone — sharp, unfinished edges around 1mm are prone to chipping from light knocks.
We recommend a minimum 50mm margin from the backsplash or front edge of the countertop, especially with wide top-mount sinks. Narrower margins raise crack risk around the cutout.
It’s more heat-tolerant than quartz — Dekton is rated up to 300°C. We still recommend a trivet under very hot cookware as good general practice.
Dekton is UV-certified and suitable for full outdoor exposure — facades, outdoor kitchens, and pool surrounds. Moca Compact is better suited to covered outdoor areas rather than full direct-weather exposure.

Moca Compact carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty and Dekton carries 25 years, both running from the date of your paid invoice, plus our own 12-month workmanship warranty on the installation. What sits outside it: discolouration, colour fading, impact damage, chipping and cracking. Those are damage to the surface rather than a fault in it, so no brand covers them.
For Dekton, yes — colours are organised into 6 groups (Group 0 to Group 5), with price rising by group. More complex or in-demand patterns sit in higher groups.
